A POSITIVE EVENT!
Good Morning. This is typically a very busy week for most of you, so I'll keep this short. I have been unusually quiet and felt that at least a partial explanation was in order.
The approaching festive holidays are a particularly vulnerable time for many of us. Without question, we are all facing challenges on so many fronts. Life today moves at a blinding pace. We are being overwhelmed with so much negative press on a daily basis. None of this is good for anyone wishing to embrace a healthy attitude and a kind demeanor toward others. I've been trying very hard to isolate just one Positive event to Blog about that would bring each of us some Hope. A good friend of mine e-mailed me about this surprise performance that was captured on camera early on the morning of March 23, 2009 at the Antwerp Central Railway Station in Belgium.
For 14 years now, we've been missing the singing voice of actress Julie Andrews following throat surgery. Thankfully, Julie will be returning to the stage at O2 Arena in London in May, 2010. In a cleverly organized fashion, and with only two rehearsals bemused passengers are gripped with amazement as Julie's recording of Rodgers & Hammerstein's "Do-Re-Mi" (from the 1965 musical "The Sound of Music") was played over the public address system with some sparse overdubbing and help from 200 dancers. For me, the facial expressions of the passengers alone are worth watching this video! There is Hope for a brighter tomorrow, and it's never too late!

Beautiful sentiment dear Michael. I can relate to everything you say.;)
Lovely clip, I have seen it shared before, but it can be seen over and over again many times, as it is so poignant.

I, too have seen it before and it's wonderful and fun. I love the way you tied it in with Julie Andrews' return to stage. Nicely done. And yes, it made me smile. :)
So glad to hear of Julie's return and you always have a great message - It truly is never too late!
i'm not convinced that tomorrows are necessarily brighter than our todays. but if we can have a wonderful today, and be hopeful of another wonderful day tomorrow, i think we are truly blessed.
i'm wishing you and your readers some daily sunshine, michael. and thanks for sharing your bright moments with us.
Spontaneous occurrences are always the best. Technology makes them last forever. It would have been a shame if all that remained of this was the recollections of those present.
This made me smile because a neighbour had a party recently to celebrate her 50th birthday and because The Sound of Music is her favourite film, that was the theme of the party, and people went dressed in character. There was even a quiz about the film. I'm afraid my team came last. Can you remember all the names of the Van Trapp children?
Zuzana: It is wonderful to read such a nice message that validates and extends an empathic note to what I have tried to communicate in brief. xoxo! :D
Hilary: lol! I first saw this about a month ago and planned on blogging about it. A great friend brought it to my attention and she is always positive and fun! That's how I was able to see it for myself. :D)
Evening, Patti: lol! I think Julie Andrews has been a part of our lives for so long we forget how varied her career has been as both a singer and an actress. I am so appreciative of her 1979 role in the movie "10" which brought two unknowns to American audiences: Dudley Moore and Bo Derek. Julie's role as "Samantha", Dudley's girlfriend was so memorable and unusual. I love that film to this day! :D)
Seraphine: lol! It depends on the person, I suppose. But for me, tomorrow will be brighter and better and I appreciate your messages always! :D
PM: Julie Andrews is really a Class Act and I am quite inspired by the Courage she is displaying by returning to singing. In "10", she takes on a role that is quite unique, and her singing is wonderful. She is beloved by us all!
Ellee Seymour: I laughed at your question knowing that I would have been little help to your team had I been present. No, I don't. But I can always "Google it"! lol, Ellee! :D
Julie Andrews is my daughter's idol (the one in the state middle school honor's chorus). She's recently read her biography and wrote a book report on her.
Yes, this week and next are busy--then after Christmas I'll head to NC to be with my parents
Sage: Yes, Julie had a 4-octave voice. She is simply amazing!
As I am fond of saying, I wish you 'safe journeys on cushioned streets'! All the Best, Sage!!!!!:)
Makes me smile everytime I see it. :)
Happy Holidays Michael xoxo
Heidi: You make me smile every time I see you too, my friend! Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2010, Heidi!
xoxo
Michael
