WE'RE ONE MONTH OUT...
(Photo: Donna Redden)A little over a month from now we will launch the 4th Annual Steve McQueen Film Festival. Last year, I was extremely proud that approximately 6,300 people visited my website during this unique BLOG "Festival". What a great celebration! With each successive generation, kids are discovering "The King of Cool", and I plan on beginning the feature by explaining why I do it!

Lately, I've been thinking about how to pull together both the films we will look at and the persona behind the celebrity that became McQueen. Movie lovers worldwide have continued to regard Steve with deep respect 29 years after his untimely passing at just 50 years of age. This challenge with the 4th Annual Film Festival is to articulate a complicated man who was in pursuit of the truth in all of his endeavors---nothing more and certainly nothing less. His Legacy lives on with all ages. From 20-somethings who relate to the timeless undercurrent of a restless, troubled and often rebellious artist, to the sheer greatness McQueen captured in every movie role. I will do my best to present films that today are resplendent and allow us to stretch our imaginations about the passion of living! Dare I say it? This will be one hell of a "Festival". When I was a broadcaster, I used a familiar "Sign Off" on radio promos that kept it simple. "I hope you'll join us".

Michael, Are you going to write a book on McQueen? You should.
Sage: That has been covered quite well with my dear friend Marshall Terrill with his groundbreaking work "Steve McQueen: Portrait of An American Rebel". In the days ahead, you will be learning of another project Marshall is working on that will be welcomed generously worldwide. Marshall is the undisputed biographer for Steve's life and you would value his latest printing as a fine read! THanks for visiting Sage. I'll drop over!!:)
heyyyy...
it's not just the "20-somethings" who relate to a "restless, troubled and often rebellious artist."
my heart still burns hot like that.
sometimes.
once in a while.
occasionally.
Hi Michael, I can't believe its been a year already, thanks so much for still popping by I have been so slack with the blog but I promise to get into it again this weekend so come on over later xx take care for now buddy and have a great day :-) shona
Seraphine: lol! It's tough to explain to people the difference between "intense" and "passionate". Intense scares people away. Passion is easier to understand (from my experience) and so I'm "passionate" about Life! HA! :D)
Shona: Glad you will be blogging some more! You have been missed!!:D
I really enjoyed last years and am looking forward to this one.
P M: Thank you for those kind words of encouragement. We will ROCK! :)
Looking forward to the festival... missed it last year, but looking forward to this year's :)
Ni: I am heartened by your post! Thanks for the good word. Steve was an incredible actor! Looking forward to you joining us!!!:)
Steve McQueens life story would make an great movie.
I wish someone would take it on..
Green Tea: lol! For me, there is no equal to what Steve left us in 30 films. But I'd suggest Marshall Terrill's epic book, "Steve McQueen: Portrait of An American Rebel". It is truly excellent! :)
