VISIT AN ASPCA SHELTER THIS WEEKEND!

My owner just left me there.

I'm a Lion with the heart of a cat!

My curiosity almost killed me, when
I took a 6- story tumble!

The ASPCA rescued me from
a life of abuse.

Like many of you, I have been reading about the thousands of people who have lost homes in foreclosure due to the sub-prime mortgage meltdown. Many turned in their pets to ASPCA shelters. And while this sounds cruel to some of you, a far crueler fate would have been for these owners to have done nothing. For reasons I will never understand (thanks to my love of animals), pets that are no different from the ones you see posted above are abandoned every day in America. That's where ASPCA--Thank God--steps into the picture to provide immediate medical care and nurturing for these innocent pets before working hard to find them loving homes. Perhaps this weekend, you might visit an ASPCA Shelter in your city or town and just consider adopting a dog or cat who needs you. If you do, let me know how it goes!

ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND...
(and support my friends at ASPCA)!

it's a wonderful idea and a great organization.
but i'd never take a kitten stupid enough to step from a six story building. even if they do land on their feet. theoretically.

What cute pictures! And SO important these animals find homes. I worry about the parrots..I'd never ever desert my 'toos. They are just such a wonderful and genuine part of my life. I can't even imagine...

Have a great weekend, Michael, and to all of your "efans" as well!

Some people don't deserve pets and that's a lame excuse for abandoning your pet.

Good post. For my daughter's last birthday, she asked her guest not to bring presents, but things that can be used at a local dog rescue shelter. Then we took out a large box of stuff, from treats and toys to leashes and collars. She had a blast giving them her "gifts" and getting to see the animals.

Dari and bubo bird: Hiow are you? Nice to see you here ALWAYS!!!

jess: Yes, I have always found it rather sad when someone has not experienced the Joy of a loving dog or cat. They bring so much to our lives! :)

pbs: Very much so! :) There are so many beautiful dogs and cats to adopt from rescue shelters, and yet I am amazed at how pets are sold for $2,000 or more, as I've seen in shopping malls here where I live.

Lisa B! A cool girl with a GREAT example here in Ally Da Pup--a cutie who has found a loving home!!!:)

Seraphine: Of course each case is different, and I have no idea about this cat's history. But there are others lonely and waiting, that's for sure my friend!

ALLY IN UTAH! :) I love your birds and only wish they could have been along at the concert. Maybe next time. Be sure and e-mail me on your next visit and we'll have coffee!

Girl Rants...I mean...Dari! Cool!!!:)

Walker: I hear ya! There will always be mean people who are sick and abuse pets. But I feel that a lot of naive people were suckered into adjustable sub-prime loans by uncaring, greedy realtors (in my opinion) who knew exactly what they were doing. They are culpable. I'm not saying those who were burned bear no responsibility, but had they been better informed they would have never over-extended. When the money ran out, many moved in with famly and relatives. The animals became an extra cost they could not absorb, so for the lucky pets who made it to ASPCA I am thankful. But now ASPCA has to find new homes for them--and soon.

jean-luc picard: Yes, I agree with you 100%!

Sage: What a wonderful idea! I have never heard of this before. You have just given many people a new idea about giving love in a new way. Many thanks for the visit and a cool story!!!:)
