LET'S LOOK AHEAD!

Marilyn Monroe
on the set of the unfinished
"Something's Got To Give"
_
Good Morning! By my count, we have just 13 "Friday Movie Suggestion Night" features" remaining in 2008. About 2 years ago, during a bone chilling Winter in Ohio after breakfast, I spent an entire Saturday in the downtown library film department armed with a clipboard, a Yellow paper tablet and a pen. The blank papers from my notepad filled up with notes on over 400 movies that I was evaluating for the 2006 movie feature on this Blogsite. One of the sweetest comments I have ever received on my Blog (among so many) came from my Blog Bud Merritt over at "It's Just the Coffee Talking". It may not mean much to the casual observer, but it meant a lot to me! Merritt, who uses a photo of the late actress Marilyn Monroe on her site said: It's obvious how hard you work on your website" (www.michaelmanning.tv). I'm still touched by that note of kindness to this day!

For the the last 13 films to be featured this year, (and the approximately 58 films for 2009) you will be very surprised. The choices will be interesting and unexpected. The performances will be intense. To borrow from a line of dialogue that Steve McQueen speaks to Jacqueline Bisset in the thriller "Bullitt": "Time starts now". The Annual Steve McQueen Festival is in the planning stages for next March and promises to be a wonderful celebration during the week of Steve's birthday as we celebrate this great actor's legacy. As previously this past Spring, the format for the Festival will be totally changed to freshen things up a bit with what I believe will be exciting results. And in the meantime? Well, I'll be by to catch up with you this weekend.

Thanks for your continued Love and Loyalty in what has been a pretty remarkable year filled with a big changes, a move across 6 states to a new city, and for this Blog many "firsts".

Great feature! Your commentary is insightful and entertaining. To quote from a blog clip at Girl Rants... You have "...bubbles and caffeine and everything in between!" Gotta love it! Kids are awesome and so are you!

Seamus: A beautiful lady. "The Misfits" bore out something I have always suspected. Namely, that the breathy-speaking "dumb-blonde" image was not Marilyn Monroe. "The Misfits" proved she was an actress. There should be full public disclosure about her FBI files and the straight story of her death--no matter who is implicated. Just my opinion. :)

Dari: You always have the nicest compliments. Thank You!

3 Magpies: lol! If I ever wind up back on the tube, I'll have to hire Dari as my Publicist! :D)

Knowing your love of the cinema, I am sure you are as heartbroken as I am with the news of Paul Newman's passing. My favorite movie of his was "The Hustler." A sad day indeed.

And thanks for the props in my comments, lol. President Cosmic. It has a nice ring to it. Hey, I'm and Irish Democrat born close to Massachusetts. Unfortunately, I would never get elected. I'm not Catholic.

McQueen Festival huh?Roadtrip from OHIO (and not for a bowl game) I just love Steve. Maybe its the images from films such as Great Escape or Towering Inferno. The guy that got the job done-no matter what. LeMans was am amazing film. I've watched it on my fathers 108" screen and I can only imagine what it was like to see on a real big screen. I've been racing for almost 20 years just as mighty Steve did. My favorite? The Hunter. Finished just before his death. In the film you can see in his eyes its almost over and for me thats it. This guy could do it all. Up 'til the end. Close second place is a film not truly starring Steve, but with a heck of a cameo--On any Sunday.
Congrats on the enormity of your year and continued success. Maybe one day I will have a following a fraction of yours.

Cosmic: I was in the apartment clubhouse workout room with "Larry King" on the flatscreen when I caught the news. Death is inevitable, of course. But no matter when it would have come to Paul, I knew it was going to hurt so many, and so deeply. He was a wonderful Actor and a man of tremendous Compassion who led a life that was Purpose-Driven. I've watched "The Verdict" over 100 times. I celebrate that we had him in our country and that he did so much to postively help so many children with Hole In The Wall Gamg Camp. God Bless him!

DJ Davy b: McQueenonline.com will team up with us next year. There is an entire book devoted to the filming of "LeMan's". So many stories about Steve that are so rich. Between giving actor LeVar Burton a role in "The Hunter", Steve and Barbara reaching out to adopt a troubled teen in the Chicago ghetto, and helping playground kids anonymously, Steve really had a heart. I almost posted "On Any Sunday" for this week's film. Hope you join us here next March. Steve and Paul Newman were friends! I'd like to know more about your driving!

Maria: I would be Honored to have a look. One look at "The Misfits" and you know Marilyn was so much more than people realized at the time!
