GUNNER THIS MORNING...
Last night I visited with Janna and Gunner and stayed with them in the Emergency Room until they were admitted to a hospital room. Gunner had requested the movie "Nim's Island" and so after work I obtained one of only 4 copies left at a local store and took it over. He was quite happy to receive it. Also, my friend in Miami at The Pan Am Historical Foundation had shipped me a Pink night shirt for Janna that is a replica of what Pan Am Flight Attendants wore while on long trips throughout the airline's vast international network. I can say that Gunner was alert, though very tired. His MRI revealed no tumor growth, however, there have been significant changes with respect to his motor skills on his left side. Gunner loves reptiles and so he had two small stuffed animals--a bear and a chameleon with him. I brought Janna a hot chicken sand which and a a cool drink as she had nothing to eat all day. Emergency room beds are so uncomfortable, and we helped Gunner reposition himself amid the usual paging and noises outside our small room with the sliding glass door. The nurses were very attentive. Twice I politely waved off a maid so that Gunner could continue to sleep. Within a couple of hours Gunner was taken to a hospital room where the mattress and pillows are must better and I sat with him while Janna conferred with physicians in the hallway. A mutual friend of ours, Jim, drove in from Gilbert, Arizona. God Bless this wonderful man--a father of 3 children who joined us. We all held hands and prayed before allowing Janna time to make up her cot next to Gunner's bed. She will posting on Gunner's website as she is able.

Your prayers, meditations, and tender mercies are welcomed by The Gillespie Family with open arms. They need our strength and unconditional love. From this end, Jim and I along with a friend I've yet to meet in Karen, have Janna's immediate needs covered for the time being. This morning as I post, the physicians (neurosurgeons) will be conferring with Janna and the Pastor from the church we both attend will be visiting with Janna as well. This is a precious little boy. He is sweet and considerate of others. He is perfect in every way. To those of you who are parents, I realize that you may have come here expecting a jovial if not kooky post as I'm wanton to do to keep life fun and upbeat. But this blog for me is also about Life-real Life and I will be as honest as I can be by telling you this subject must take precedence because that's where my heart is and this is where the Good Lord has led me. Take care of yourselves and the ones you love. Talk soon.

Dear Michael,
My heart and prayers go out to Gunner and Janna. I will deffinatly be keeping them in my thoughts as well as yourself. They are blessed to have such a good friend. Support like you are lending, even if its just a sandwich is an invaluable thing at times like this when a Mom doesnt want to be separate from her child for even a moment.
I am so sick of this childhood cancer!!!!
That's a cool train.
It is so sad to see children suffering like this.
I will keep him in my heart..
Thats me above Michael..forgot to switch back..
Been a long week.. *smile*
Michael, man this all sounds kinda familiar. You KNOW my heart is with all these precious children, and Gunner particularly at this moment, suffering so. May their families be strong and have faith that all will work out as it will.
My thoughts to you as well, as I know this must be difficult for you too.
Continued prayers and love and support to Gunner, his family, and all who love him.
Ally

Gunner, his family and you Michael have my support. Gunner's drawing is Great, please tell him.
Herman, from Holland.
Herman: Your support means so much to us all and I will most definitely pass this along today! Thank you VERY MUCH for taking the time to share from the heart!
Penny: God Bless Yo for petitioning for a Miracle as I do on a daily basis. It will be answered, I can assure you my friend!!!
Ally: Yes, there is but no doubt to me or my Pastor in Lubbock that part of Sahara's tremendous Legacy was to teach us all how to become "first responders" from the heart. Love-In-Action is one of many things sweet Sahara taught me, along with the example of Shannon and Amy. God Bless them for introducing me to Gunner last November. Such a remarkable family and sweet friends of our for life. And to you for you ever generous and loving heart, Ally! (((HUGS)))!:)
Green Tea: Love is strong! MWAH! :)
jlee: I focus not on Gunner's suffering but his healing as we all look ahead and I know you do too. YOU ROCK my friend. Love heading your way!! :)
D-Man: A cool train and a beautiful heart and soul. That's who Gunner is!
Susan: I am SO with you on responding to childhood cancer. It will be eliminated, for no cancer can forever withstand our aggressive prayers, thoughts, research and Love-In-Action! lol to you, Susan for being so sweet!!!:)
Well I was just directed here from Susan's blog and I'm glad I was. I love your attitude about not focusing on Gunner's illness, but his healing. That kind of thing rubs off on him and the people around him. All of my good wishes and positive energy are directed at the little guy as he goes through these hard times. And that is a pretty cool train:)
Sharon: Thank you for those sweet words of support, but I have to credit Janna and Gus along with our mutual friends like Brian and Janelle Jones over at "Innocence of a Child" for teaching me about DIPG. My Pastor of 22 years has also been involved and even the Pastor of my new church here in Phoenix. In short, there are so many good people aboard Gunner's Train with me and we all really share and exchange ideas and observations-- all geared towards acknowledging DIPG, but also making a positive effort to help Gunner and his family blaze a trail to Victory. And with God's help, they are doing just that! lol!!!!:)
I am also a cancer patient (adult). I will be praying for the family. Do you have their blog address, so I can keep up to date with Gunner's progress?

I wish you all the very best!
