AN UPDATE ON TREVOR TREDAWAY!

The other night, I had so much fun visiting Trevor Tredaway and Gunner Gillespie over at Gus and Janna's place. As you know from my previous Blogs on these precious children, Trevor is 3 years old and the son of Todd and Melinda Tredaway. And does he have energy! Once he saw me walk into the hotel room, he raised one eye brow, and when I smiled he just beamed and ran over at about 60 miles per hour to hug me! What a sweet little boy!! He and I played with his toys and Gunner was such a great, understanding playmate. This allowed Janna and Melinda to catch up as the two girls are great friends. I was blessed beyond belief to be a part of this visit!
After posting about Gunner, I began receiving e-mails from many of you who asked me for an update on Trevor and his condition. I had blogged about the boys in May and June. Trevor's medical diagnosis is a bit different from Gunner. One month before Gunner's diagnosis in Benton, Kentucky, Trevor was diagnosed with "an infiltrating astrocytoma"--this is a mass on his brain along with two tumors on his spine. While he has been having seizures, the day of my visit he was completely seizure-free and his spirits are in high gear, let me tell you! Like Gunner, Trevor is a very determined little boy who just loves people. And the Love from these children is so pure and unconditional. Oh, if we adults could somehow follow the example of these children! Imagine what a better place our world would be!!
As with Gunner, I must tell each of you that the cost of medical treatments to eradicate Trevor's tumors are unbelievably expensive. It is no surprise to any of us that insurance companies do NOT cover alternative medicine. But here are two ways we can help The Tredaway Family. First let's look at a Fund Raiser that is literally "just around the corner" for my friends in West Texas who may (or may not) remember my newscasts on "Bill Mack's Midnight Cowboy Trucking Network" on WBAP News/Talk 820 AM (1999-2000), and later during Mid-Days on "The Marc Davis Show"--(2000-2002) which is now in national. syndication. Anyway let's have a look below!

WEST TEXAS FUND RAISER FOR TREVOR TREDAWAY!

Team Roping: Okay, Cowboys & Cowgirls. Saddle up for August 2nd & 3rd at the West Texas Horse Center in Odessa, exit 108 on I-20. The books open at 9 AM and they close at 9:45 AM, so that means skoot your boots! I'm serious too! The roping starts at 10:00 AM sharp on both days. The Grandprize is Awesome!: A horse trailer to high point roper for the weekend!

BIG SPRING, TEXAS GOLF TOURNAMENT: August 23, shotgun start at 8:00 AM. 4 man scramble/$50 per person. Hole sponsorship: $1,000 per hole. If you would like to sponsor a hole, please contact Kelli Tredaway at 432-213-2373

Hey, let's come together to support this adorable little boy who has so much energy and is always on the lookout for new friends!
_
Last but certainly not least, a special bank fund has been established to help Trevor and his family handle his medical bills. Here it is:

The Trevor Tredaway Fund
Citizens Federal Credit Union
P.O.Box 51070
Midland , TX 79710

Here is Melinda:

Hello to everyone! Well, we are still in Scottsdale and have decided to continue treatment for 3 more weeks. Trevor will have his last treatment on August 14, and that will be a total of 30 poly treatments. We will go back to Midland that weekend. We hope to have an MRI soon after we return. If we need to come back to Scottsdale, we will.

Trevor is doing good!! He has gone 3 days without a seizure. I have added 4 more supplements to his daily regimen which include ruta, calphos, boswellia and a DHA supplement for brain funtion. I know that something is working!!

I again want to thank everyone that had anything to do with the benefit at the Hop Pit last weekend. Whether it was working it, getting it together or just showing up, everyone's support for Trevor means the world to us!!

The team roping is coming up this weekend in Odessa. The grandprize is a horse trailer. There is also a golf tournament in Big Spring on August 23. I will post the details below.

Kelli updated the montage of Trevor. There are some new pics towards the end. I updated the link under "links".

Have a good week!

One of the beautiful things about Blogging is that I have the privilege of being your eyes and ears here in Arizona and I must tell you. There is no more precious gift, than---to quote my friend Brian Jones---"the innocence of a child". Nothing else really matters because nothing else carries more meaning. Not what we do for a living, what kind of car we drive, or how big our homes are. We live in an often cynical world. Yet, all of this melts away when you meet children as I have with Gunner Gillespie and Trevor Tredaway. I first heard about Trevor through my Pastor of 22 years. He and his wife sent me a late night e-mail last November that read: "We are so concerned about a little boy in Midland, Texas named Trevor Tredaway. Please pray for him". Long story-short: After my friends in Missouri, Shannon and Amy Aldridge made me aware of Gunner Gillespie, my Pastor's e-mail followed soon after with information about Trevor. As it turned out, my Pastor and his wife have a friend who knows Melinda Tredaway...and the rest as they say, is history. Later, I started speaking to to my friends Gus and Janna Gillespie about Trevor and here we all are Arizona where alternative treatments are available! I hope you will answer the call to help Trevor. During my visit, he signed the words "I Love You" to me and I signed it back. Now YOU have a chance to do the same long-distance. Thanks again for reading this post and for your continued prayers and positive thoughts about these very precious children and their parents, whom I am blessed to call my friends.

With our collective Love and Supportiveness, they will survive this serious medical challenge in a world that needs them dearly!

Thanks for posting the update. Such an inspirational story. These very young heroes teach is much about life and that every moment is indeed sacred, whatever the situation. Such joy I see in the young faces and in your writing even in the midst of such heartfelt tears.
Life indeed is a mystery.

Best wishes

lindsaylobes: Thank YOU for taking time to read what I've written, and respond with your heart. I have learned so much from both the children and their parents. The Courage and Determination of these little boys tells me they have a chance. We merely have to lend an outstretched hand to grasp theirs to pull them through this challenge successfully. AND WE WILL!

Thanks again, Lindsay!

Micheal,
Thank you so much for your wonderful update on Trevor and Gunner. Gunner has been part of our organization for some time now and Trevor recently joined Send Love Today. We have 45 volunteers who send cards each week to those dealing with brain tumors, so if you know of anyone who wants to help our cause, lead them to our website at www.sendlovetoday.org Most of our "friends" are young children and cards can help bring smiles to their little faces, as did your wonderful post. Have a wonderful day,

It's a shame that with all the waste and expense of it there is nbo free medical for people there.
It saddens me to see such bright lively children having to go through this with only the sacrifices their parents have to make to keep them healthy.
There is something wrong with society when weoponss superceed the welfare of the world which is our children

Sandi: God Bless You for that (((HUG))) and your words of love for Gunner and Trevor. There is no medicine more powerful than our Love & Supportiveness! lol!

Walker: I quite agree, as these are my dear friends who I am discussing here.

The fabric of our society needs a spiritual check up. But as Steve McQueen once said: "Time starts now". The needs of these children and their devoted parents is Immediate. Therefore, we must take the love we have for all of them into our hearts and step forward with our tender mercies and "make it happen" and help relieve them of their financial strain so that they can devote their entire focus on attending to their children on a 24/7 basis.

I welcome help on this issue from anyone reading this who can step in and offer relief to these medical bills and provide concrete suggestions to me by e-mail. Thanks for your love, Walker. Your heart is in the right place!

Those faces do radiate joy and a real appreciation for life, don't they. I"m glad they are doing well and that they have such a great friend in you. I continue to hope that they will look into things like reiki in addition to traditional medicine.

Michael, I SO love how you keep us all updated with these precious children. Your heart is big when it comes to them...as it should be. I always send prayers to heaven for them, and am hoping for that miracle Sahara wasn't able to get this go-around.

Best to you,
SunBunny Ally (snow bunny soon to come--too soon! LOL)

P.S. I was in Arizona a couple weeks back, but didn't get a chance to make it to your end of the valley. Perhaps next time. :)

Ally: I've updated you on my Blogroll.

ALL: Ally and I became fast friends at "A Concert for Sahara" in Cape Girardeau, Missouri benefiting our dear, sweet friend Sahara Aldridge. I nicknamed her "Snowbunny Ally" because it was Winter and well, Ally is from Utah. :)
