WEEKEND HOBBIES!
Many of you have hobbies involving collections of one sort or another. While my 14-year collection of Executive Desktop Commercial Aviation models is complete, I also collected certain hard to find Die-Cast Automobile models in 1/18 scale that each hold specific memories for me. And, I still possess a huge airline Coffee Mug stable too. This has been great fun and adds a bit of wonder for the imagination. Herein lies the "magic" of collecting. Have a nice weekend!
A Pan Am 727-200
My favorite Boeing Jet

I've sat on this Bike in Nevada. It was one of two built for
the iconic movie "Easy Rider". I was told that Peter Fonda
cracked a rib on this bike due to the stiff suspension.

Steve McQueen's 1968 Ford 390 Fastback from "Bullitt"

Bill Hickman's 1968 Dodge Charger 440 R/t from the movie "Bullitt"

Steve McQueen's Porsche 917K used in the movie "LeMans"

(Above): A car my late Uncle Nicky
drove me around in Detroit

(Above) A model given to me at age 7
after I exited Intensive Care in the hospital

A model of a car my Uncle Jimmy once owned
It had a 352 V-8 with headers that was
no match off the line for even Corvettes.

quite a collection--I collect books. I use to collect stamps. As far as collections and displays--I have old ship post cards (going back to the 1890s) and old railroad post cards.
Sage: That sounds fascinating to me! You must collect steam RR cards, I'm assuming. I don't know much about that. But another buddy of mine collects HO size steam model locomotives!
I used to collect stamps too infact i have 15years worth of first day covers... I still enjoy looking at them now and again ,we have some beautiful stamps.
That is cool Michael!
I seem to collect DVD's of old TV shows. Programs like Red Skeleton, Jack Benny, Jackie Gleason - shows like that I find at the dollar store.
Two weeks ago I found a great Steve McQueen movie on DVD called The Great St. Louis Bank Robbery at the dollar store.
At times I have found some of the old Sol Lesser Tarzan movies Starring Glenn Morris, Buster Crabbe or Gordon Scott. And a Hercules or Samson movie starring Gordon Scott.
I search the bargain bin - my selections may be a little weird or they may not be to everyone’s taste but I find many of these old shows and movies a lot of fun!
I hope you have a great weekend.

Beautiful stuff you've got there. My most beloved hobby is photography - I have crates and books and just tons of photos - I am the family historian.
I collect crystal - especially if they're unusual colors or shapes - not into for the value of the crystal but for the unique art.
That 'Easy Rider' is some bike. One hobby of mine is looking at Hsrley Davidsons and wishing I could ride one.
I try to get and read everything ever written by some authors.Isaac Asimove, Robert Heinlein, Harold Robbins, Anne McCafery, Collen McCullogh, Anne Rice, M.M. Kaye. I'm still a little short on Harlan Ellison and James A. Michener. Keeps me busy during summers when I'm not writing or playing golf.
Sally in Norfolk: Stamp collecting is meticulous and cool! I can remember back in Ohio standing in line and hearing a little kid looking through the display case in wonder and begging his mom to buy some new issue. How priceless!
Glenn: We also share an affinity for going "behind the scenes" to uncover a good story. I watched Norman Jewison being interviewed yesterday by Robert Osborn. When Steve McQueen did "The Blob" he had a choice of taking $2,500 or 10% of the gross. Well, it made $10 million! :)
Dianne: One of the items I gave my mom for Christmas was a crystal necklace. For another Christmas Gift, I organized about 1,500 photos into leather bound acid-free photo albums. I love your hobby. Very unique!
jean-luc-picard: If you ever visit Las Vegas, the bike I mentioned is on display at The Harley Davidson Cafe and you have to pay a professional photographer to snap you on the bike. Unhappy with certain shots, I had her take 3 or 4 and we worked out a deal. It is the ultimate chopper! Also, walk upstairs to see the Ann-Margret display! Free Admission too!
p m: One of my Pan Am friends met and sat with author Robert Michener on a long flight!
I like the bike!
Gee your cool stuff makes my collection of Mr Potatoheads pale in comparison! LOL
Katie: While it inspired Paul Teutel, Sr. of "American Chopper", I like it better than anything else I've seen. It was hard not to hear "Born to Be Wild" by Steppenwolf while spending 10 minutes or so with the machine.
Patti: I have friends of all ages who collect "Star Wars" memorabilia. So don't feel so bad. When you're a single guy waiting for Demi Moore to be single again, you have the time to pursue it.:D
I collect 1930's dinnerware pottery. Specifically, Metlox Series 200. Each place setting is a different color - similiar to Fiesta Ware, but in a matte finish and softer colors. And it's not as common as Fiesta Ware so there is a real sense of accomplishment when you finally "score" a piece.
Knitti-Me, I have Fiesta Ware, but not the original which has lead in it. :)
nice guitar..I have some of coins but not too many.
