PETER FRAMPTON'S FINGERPRINTS!

The New CD From Peter Frampton

_________________________

As is the case with "cabin fever", I was able to get out a bit from behind the work desk on Sunday and heard a familiar Guest on our local National Public Radio station. It was some ten minutes before I realized that it was none other than Peter Frampton (of "Frampton Comes Alive" fame) who lives due North of me. He was discussing his 2007 Grammy-Award winning CD "Fingerprints". One of the "tenacious as a bulldog" coping mechanisms I've learned is that when you cannot get at your own guitar, you "listen, listen, listen" like crazy to artists trying things they have never even considered doing in the past. I have a theory that it is good for one's creative mind to do so. In this case, Peter shines with a totally--instrumental CD. Since I refuel my vehicle in the early evenings, (due to smog alerts) I climbed back into the car and was pushing the pre-set buttons on my car in-dash radio to find something inspiring. That's when I had joined the interview already in-progress. The first impression I had was that this guy knew the local area and venues well. Secondly, I found some confirmation in what I had been trekking on my own with artists breaking touring into smaller pieces and pacing them--often with a few weeks apart to remain fresh and avoid burnout. Peter pulls off a great rendition of Sound Garden's "Black Hole Sun" with Mike McCready. Charlie Watts and Bill Wyman also sit-in on this CD and it is invigorating--whether the guitar is your choice of instrument or not; this is a fun piece I thought I'd Blog about for the beginning of the week!

I like the new way artists are touring, it seems like they are choosing smaller venues as well. Much better shows I think.

I had such a crush on Peter Frampton when I was a kid.

Shona: And your multi-tasking is three times what I have going on so lol!:-)

Katie: I feel the same way. I much prefer a 500-750 seat venue like Las Vegas shows. More of an intimate feel.

Teresa: I had the pleasure of meeting Peter over two years ago with his daughter at a Library reading. A very nice guy who lives here North of me. I wish I had my Grand Funk "Bosnia" CD that day for him to sign. He was a Guest artist on that "Live" CD. He's a long-time friend of GFRR since his old band Humble Pie used to open shows for them. "Fingerprints" is a very different sort of CD.

Oh my goodness--I absolutely still LOVE Peter Frampton! His Frampton Comes Alive CD is still one of my top fives to this day.

Whenever I have heard him lately on Bob and Tom, I always recognize that voice. To think when I was a way young thing, we camped outside his hotel room, but never bothered him! But I did get to briefly meet him, too. Somewhere I have all the autographs of his band at the time (but NO his--yet Bob Mayo's etc.) LOL.

I may have to pick up Fingerprints. I love how he still evolves and that he won a Grammy. Well deserved.

Ally: He was very easy-going. I recall that!

D-Man: He was in Nashville doing studio work as I understand it, married a girl from my town and relocated here.

patti_cake: I'm a fan also!

Karma: It's always nice to have something a bit different to round out a CD collection!

Renae: An amazing guitarist. Still uses his Talk-Box too! :)
