WARMING UP A BLOG AUDIENCE?

Don LaFontaigne!

Remember those trick questions designed to correct bad behavior that your parents doled out as a kid? Well, I do. One that sticks out is, "Don't get smart now". That one actually caught me because I answered back: "Well, what do you want me to be, stupid?" This did not go over well with my Mother back then and trying to outrun your Mom who is piqued when you're giggling at your own clever comeback is just plain lethal--running while giggling! I don't suggest it under any scenario. Needless to say the outcome was not pleasant. But at least I can relate to tennis pro Martina Navratilova in one area: We each came from European parents who were pretty demanding. I gleaned this from an interview I watched with Martina as a Guest--I think it was on Charlie Rose. Charlie's cool because his Guests are able to elaborate away...which I enjoy. All of which leads me to today's topic.

I have an exciting person coming up on "THE INTERVIEW" whose identity I can't reveal yet. Every television show you can think of from Carol Burnett to Conan O'brien (usually) has a guy or gal who comes out and warms up the audience with jokes to get them "loosened up" before the show. As I sat here Blogging away, I wondered, "How do you warm up a Blogger Audience"? The only thing I could come up with was out of the budget: Don LaFontaigne. Yeah, that guy! The one who is famous from the Geico TV commercial who's made a killing doing voiceovers for years. You've all heard him in a movie theater with his unmistakable intro: "In a world where..." Actually, the more I think about it, THAT is a clever intro! So, while I await my next Guest in the Blogger's "Green Room" I guess you'll just have to use your imagination and look at Don's photo while we get everything here set up. How's that for a short Blog? See you soon. Meanwhile, "In a world where"...

Good warm up and I was surprised that I knew who Don was.. but I did!
I've often thought I wish I could do voice-overs but I HATE to hear my voice!
Patti: Nah! 30 minutes with me in a studio with headsets on and some engineers and you'll change your mind! :D!!!
I can't wait! How did to manage to get Anna Nicole Smith to do an interview? And will be naked? lol
I can't wait to see who this mystery interview is with. Have a terrific day. It is so sunny way up here in no mans land, I love it!!!
Renae

Denny: I hate to disappoint you, but it's not Anna. My Guest is still on vacation, but things are percolating.
Renae: Send some of that sunshine here! it's SO overcast!!
Dawn: Wow! That sounds pretty serious. I'll check it out!!! ;)
Those Geico commercials are awesome! It's always so great to put a face to the voice of people like that.
Janet: What's funny is that the man can't go anywhere now without being mobed for an autograph. No more seclusion for Don! I must say, he is a great talent!!
That's by far my favorite of the Geico "celebrity" commercials, Michael. I even mentioned it on my blog a month or so ago. He's got such a great voice!
Odd how some of the things my parents said to me - and I thought were funny at the time. Are things that I say to my own kids like "put that milk away" "Close the fridge door." "Chew with your mouth closed." Etc.
I hope you have a great weekend Michael.
Glenn Bishop
Utenzi: I almost fell out of my chair with the Little Richard ad!!!
Glenn: To put it mildly, I was a mischevious kid! Enjoy your weekend too, Glenn!!!
I love the Geico commericals
Oh and Michele told me to say hi :)
Mistress of the Dark! Glad you stopped by. I'll be over to check out your site! Isn't Michele cool?
