FINAL WEEK OF MCQUEEN FESTIVAL!

This is the FINAL WEEK of the "Virtual Film Festival" Honoring the life and artistic contributions of my favorite actor Steve McQueen (1930-1980). The scheduling in my personal career enabled me to undertake this project and I am very grateful to have had the time to pull together all of the components to complete this task from an artist whose work spans 30 films. It was quite a stretch to select just 10 films back in December when I decided to go forward with the idea. I have done so with the greatest of respect to a very complex man who continues to touch millions of lives, even 25 years after his passing. He is a "Legend". Just to recap...
_____
On Thursday, February 9th I will post our final two film pairings. The Festival will Officially Close with a very special and poignant BLOG post on Sunday, February 12th and Monday, February 13th. There will be no further posts after this run has ended. This has been very rewarding for me.
_____
Again, thank you and I sincerely hope you enjoy our final two films!

I never did get to see any of these so I hope you'll publish a complete list. I'll get to it one day as I trust your judgement about these things.

Must have been a lot of work acculumating the details! Well, I am not a movie movie person. I'm more of a music lover! But I think I am goin' to get a bunch of Steve Mcqueen movies to watch now after reading so much of him. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward for your special blog. You have a great week ahead!

Lisa: I think you'll enjoy the final selections. Smiles to you for the week also!!

Bud: No problem. I keep a Year-Round Schedule over at my "NEWS" section listing the date and title of each film from 2005 and 2006. It's at www.michaelmanning.tv

Pink Lady: I am too!

Rashmi: There are a total of 30 films. Not all are commercially available but eventually they will be as a group of them was released on DVD last year, and with great fanfare! Enjoy your day!

I already added several Steve McQueen movies to my Netflix queue. I didn't realize that he was only 50 when he died - so young! Can you imagine what he could have accomplished if...?!

I know putting together this virtual film festival took a lot of research and time; however, it would be so wonderful if you could put another one together - perhaps Dustin Hoffman or the more obscure Lee Marvin?

Thanks for the suggestions. I had never seen a McQueen movie until you suggested them.

HI Teresa!: What a nice note! Steve is ingrained as part of the American Landscape and STILL brings joy to millions. Since 2002, his image has been used not only to introduce a neat Ford Mustang GT called "Bullitt" from the film we watched, but in the new Mustang of 2005 and in Fossil Watch shops in shopping malls nationwide. Steve will always be "The King of Cool". I look at the young "hot shots" of Hollywood today and agree with Shania Twain when she sings: "That don't impress me much!" lol, Teresa! This final week will be AWESOME!
