THE FESTIVAL IS CLOSED! (MY THANKS)

What began as an idea during a drive back to Ohio from North Carolina became reality when five weeks ago I launched a "Virtual Film Festival" here to Honor the Life and Career of my favorite Actor Steve McQueen spanning 10 carefully selected films that hopefully familiarized many of you for the first time with the Legend the world knows as "The King of Cool". For others, my slot on "Friday Movie Suggestion Nights" was well spent with double-features that brought together the full range of this great American Actor, who along with Martin Landau, became only 2 of more than 2,000 applicants to the Lee Strassberg Actors Studio In New York City. I want to just thank each and every one of you who shared all of your positive comments and recollections on my BLOG. This was a special project for me that would never have been possible were I not "in transition" professionally, as many 18 to 20 hour days went into the planning of this series. Your Love and your Supportiveness made it possible for my small dream to come true. Lastly, I would like to thank a special new BLOG bud in Tricia of Wood Not Wood for stepping forward on her own initiative after recognizing from digging into my Archives that I don't currently have the software capability to upload images. She spent many hours from her home transferring and sizing images for me to evaluate and save. Tricia, I can't thank you enough for your Help, your Love and Patience! As my way of saying "Thank You" to all of you who read my BLOG, I've arranged posters of the films that became the "Virtual Film Festival" (scroll down) in Tribute to Steve McQueen and to the generosity of all of you--the Best Bloggers on the planet! Thank You and God Bless!

Bud: That's right. Like I said, the cool thing about DVD's is they will be ready when you are. Have a great week! P.S. I have a film to be announced on Thursday that is fun for any musician or anyone who loves the art of creating! Tune in!!

hick: Thanks! I have an awesome film I'm announcing on Thursday's post--not to be missed!

Jesus: "Cinema Paradiso" was suggested to me by a Very Cool Friend! Otherwise I might have missed one of the best movies ever made. We featured it here on "Friday Movie Suggestion Nights" in 2005! Have a good week!!

Defiant Goddess: You are very kind. Thank you!

Kari: Oh, Steve dated everyone in Hollywood including the late Sharon Tate. He really got around.

Teresa: No. This was a ton of work and that's just because I'm very exacting about how I like projects to go. It came along while I was "in transition" on the job front and could stay up until 6 AM working on researching, capturing stills, writing and all that. But I'm very proud of it. But don't worry, we return to the regular "Friday Movie Suggestion Nights" this Thursday. lol!

Lisa: I couldn't ask for a better compliment from a cool Blog Bud! lol!

Kerry: Hey! lol and Happy Valentines Day back at you my friend!!!

Steve McQueen was and still is my favorite actor . I must have seen Bullitt 20 times . Every movie after it had to have a chase scene . The only movie to ever come close to Bullitt's action was "The 7ups" !

Tom Horn was a great choice but I think I would have picked "LeMans" over "The Towering Inferno" though ! Great job !

Steve McQueen died the same way and at the same age as my brother-inlaw and best friend . That's no way for a man to go . It's pure hell ! God Bless Them !!!

Wallycrawler: My sympathy over the loss of your brother-in-law. It is brutal. I have seen 16 of Steve's 30 films and the first seaon of "Wanted Dead of Alive" is out on DVD. BTW: Did you know that Bill Hickman id the driving in "The 7 Ups" for Roy Sheider? He borrowed the crash scene into the tractor trailer from Jane Mansfield's death. Bill also drove for Gene Hackman in "The French Connection" and "Love Bug" (while he filmed "Bullitt"). Carey Loftin and Bud Ekins(Bud did the jumps in "Bullitt" on Chestnut Street in the Mustang and also layed down the motorcycle and did the jump in "The Great Escape". I've seen them all interviewed. Hard to believe they are in their 70's now. Thanks for writing and I shall see Le Mans! To this day, racers tell Chad McQueen how fast Steve was with Peter Revson. He tried to qualify with Jackie Stewart in pro racing but it did't happen.

le laquet: A Neat Guy with Instincts I've rarely seen in Actors I've studied with in my career.Imagine Steve and Martin Landau--2 of 2,000 applicants accepted to Strassberg's Actor's Studio!
