"AUTHOR!, AUTHOR!"

"Friday Movie Suggestion Night" is here!
__________

It's no surprise that many of you are parents or step-parents. So, what I set out to do for this week's "Friday Movie Suggestion Night" was to feature a treat that would combine the ingredients of a cool story, a spectacular cast, comedy and 110 minutes that will have you glued to the tube and left with a great feeling. So, we have AL PACINO as an Armenian playright named "Ivan Travalian" who has some issues going on in his life. His Broadway play is in rehearsals, but there's a pesky problem with "the second act, just the second act". TUESDAY WELD is "Gloria", a tramp of a wife who gets married and has kids about as often as I change shirts. She leaves him, as well as four children from her previous marriages and his own son. This is a sleeper. Irwin Winkler produces (Rocky, Raging Bull, Good Fellas), Israel Horowitz is the Writer, Arthur Hiller directs. Not to be missed: DYAN CANON plays the lead actress in Ivan's play who wants to move in with him, just without the kids. The late ALAN KING delivers the comic lines as Ivan's Producer that are hysterical! Also, cameo appearances by the late BOB AND RAY from the heyday of radio and RICHARD BELZER plays a gay stage manager! Filmed in New York City and Gloucester, Massachussetts, the soundtrack features DAVE GRUSIN. Here are two tag lines used when the movie was released:

"They share the laughter, the love, the frustration ...and the bathroom!"

"Anybody can be a father. But not every father deserves a standing ovation"

So, grab some Jiffy Pop, some non fat butter and have a blast. I hope you love this one. Remember my recent "stay tuned" motto. I've got something cooking for everyone. This one is for the parents and the kiddos. Truly, I think everyone will love it. Okay, It's "Off to the movies!"

Hi There,
I'm saving your wonderful movie suggestion/reviews for when I have some time and to share some good movies with my daughter over school break later in the winter. Too many art show deadlines. Meanwhile, I enjoy reading the wealth of info you open my green eyes to. :D

green-eyed-lady: lol! Here's where we've been since we started. From our initial launch September 17th, we've covered a great variety of movies: THE VERDICT, "10", THE GRADUATE, THE HORSE WHISPERER, CINEMA PARADISO, STEALING HOME, THE FISHER KING, THE LEGEND OF ZORRO, and next: AUTHOR!, AUTHOR!

What's even more exciting is what
I have in the wings. I spend two to three nights a week carefully making notes of movies for 2005/2006. And the readers have helped. Thanks for your kind words of support. It means so much. Nite!

Hasan: Hello and welcome back! I'm glad you concur!!

Christa: Start anytime. The reason I post on Thursdays is that readers have asked for a heads-up to download or go to their library or video store if they want. It's just casual fun!

Stacy: Hey! You're using the photo here instead of what you haad before. Great! Yeah, it's nice to AL in a funny movie and not wiping out mobsters, isn't it?

LisaBinDaCity: I keep a list of readers suggestions, so if you have one, let me know. Maybe I'll surprise you!!

Michelle: I know just the scene you're talking about but i won't elaborate or I'll spoil it. That was fun too! Alan King always cracked me up!!

Pink Lady: Don't miss this one! I know it's usually the guy who dumps all and runs, this is the reverse with hilarious results.

"...but not every father deserves a standing ovation." heehee, and sometimes they DO deserve one, and we don't realize for years!

Michael, I forgot to tell you: my local bookstore is a "Borders" and they don't have Airways Magazine! My closest Barnes & Noble is about 1.5 hours away over in VA. :(

Do you know where I might get a copy-- online or such? Amazon? (I'll go check)

Carolyn: It IS a fun movie. Try Waldenbooks, Media play, Hobbie Shops, Half Priced Books; Borders carries is in the "Transportation section. But we are worldwide. If that doesn't work, e-mail me and one way or another we'll solve it. lol!!!

Rhein: It's nice to see Pacino in this role. I can't for the life of me figure out why "Scarface" is such a cult classic. Maybe it's because I am not a Masochist. How depressing. but THIS MOVIE is sooo different. I guess his role reminds me of what I'd do. Some very funny New York scenes here!

Gosh I remember this one! I didn't know that Alan King had died I loved this guy he was soooo good! Where have I been? When did he die?I don't watch much tv mostly just rent movies and such. Remember when he would do those tv specials with that big bulletion board up on the wall deal? Moving one tv program over to another day and time, or saying it got "cancelled" and such? Incredibly funny and so good! I would laugh so hard!

I don't know why but I always seem to get Al Pacino and Robert Dinero mixed up? They don't look anything like one another yet I do it all the time. Did you ever see the movie "Flawless" with Dinero? Sad yes, but its a great lesson on tolerance and love don't you think? I cried it touched me so. Movies that really "hit me" and I know I can watch again and again I will purchase like Flawless. Did you ever see "My first Mister" with Albert Brooks and Leelee Sobieski? So good! Or "Never again" with Jeffrey Tambor and Jill Clayburgh? The meeting at the resturant they had? I completely identified with that scene. Well sorry Michael if you haven't seen it you might not have a clue what I'm talking about...:o)..anyway that movie is very funny but also had a great message for many to learn from..as I did..

Well when it comes to movies I can't say enough!..lol..I have so many favorites. I also love foreign films with subtitles, especially French ones..and I'm a Bridget Bardot buff. I am hoping to collect all of her movies one day.

Thanks for sharing about this movie it was a good one!

Blessings,

Rhi

Foxymama; Cool-enjoy it!!

Rhiannon: Bridget Bardot has Courage-I love her. Alan King left us last year, I think. He was truly a Legend. I'm sorry I don't know the others?
