Michael Manning is a broadcaster, writer, host and producer with more than 14 years of experience in radio and television. While his work has included reporting and anchoring news, his passion also includes interviewing guests and hosting unscripted television projects.
A sampling of guest interviews has included such notable personalities as: Ken Mansfield, Grammy Award-winning record producer for Waylon Jennings and former U.S. Manager of The Beatles’ Apple Record label; Jeb Rosebrook, screenwriter of the 1972 Steve McQueen film “Junior Bonner”; Annemarie Lucas and Joseph Pentangelo, co-hosts of Discovery Channel’s “Animal Precinct”; film and television actress Barbara Leigh; Canadian Symphony and Opera Conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson; singer/songwriter David M. Bailey, and CNN aviation analyst Jim Tilmon.
As a contributing editor with Airways magazine, Michael’s business profiles and interviews have included: NASA astronaut and Eastern Airlines CEO Frank Borman (Commander of Apollo 8); Gordon Bethune, former Boeing executive, Continental Airlines CEO and author of the New York Times Best Seller, From Worst to First, and Pan Am executive Al Topping, whose daring evacuation of Pan Am personnel during the end of the Vietnam War, inspired the NBC TV movie “Last Flight Out”, starring James Earl Jones, Richard Crenna and Haing S. Ngor.
On special assignment, Michael reinvestigated the New Year’s Eve in-flight aircraft fire and crash landing that claimed the life of actor and rock music legend Rick Nelson.
Michael also hosted and produced “The Saturday Main Event”, a weekend cultural arts and entertainment magazine in the Dallas market with top artists as interview guests. He also hosted “The Lone Star Film and Television Awards” for three seasons.
As a news reporter and anchor, Michael has appeared on The ABC Radio News Network, CBS and NBC affiliated radio and television stations. His reporting has included coverage of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks, the Debate Over Heath Care Reform, the Crisis in Afghanistan, the GM Bankruptcy, and the Winter Olympic Games in 2010 and 2014. His editorial essays have included retrospectives on educator and lecturer Leo Buscaglia, Apple Inc. founder Steve Jobs, Multi-tasking in the Workplace, and Architectural Repurposing Trends in the U.S. and Europe. He has worked steadily in commercials and videos for both consumer and corporate audiences.
Michael graduated from The University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He currently resides in Scottsdale, Arizona.
